Ag Water Quality Certification

What is Agricultural Water Quality Certification?

MAWQCP Certification is voluntary for any producer willing to work with a conservation professional to evaluate their farm’s characteristics and management strategies to identify what practices are working well and what areas need improvement. This program recognizes the ways farmers and landowners manage their land to protect water quality and provides further conservation opportunities to those who are committed to the sustainability of their farm.

Why get certified?

  • It serves as a powerful marketing tool for consumers interested in environmentally responsible agricultural practices.
  • It's an opportunity for farmers to evaluate the efficiency of their operations, from inputs to equipment needs.
  • It ensures regulatory certainty for 10 years regarding any new water quality rules or laws during the period of certification .
  • Farms certified through MAWQCP obtain priority for technical and financial assistance  to implement land management practices that promote water quality.
  • Provides conservation opportunities to those who are committed to the sustainability of their farm for future generations.
