The culvert crossing on County State Aid Highway 8 and Stateline Creek was perched over 2 feet, limiting aquatic organism passage on a valuable trout stream. In addition, the culvert was undersized and damaged during the 2018 flood.
The high flows caused by the undersized culvert contributed to severe bank erosion downstream.
The Federal Highway Administration and MN Department of Transportation funded replacement of the failing culvert with a bridge and a Clean Water Fund grant funded stabilization of the downstream failing bank.
Funding for this project was provided by a BWSR Clean Water Fund Grant, the Federal Highway Administration and Minnesota Department of Transportation.
